GEOFF TRISTRAM (Trist) CARTOONIST

Geoff Tristram has been a professional artist and cartoonist for over forty years, working for a diverse range of clients including Penguin, Embassy World Snooker, The BBC, Tarmac, Carillion, Past Times, Ravensburger Puzzles, Winsor & Newton, Trivial Pursuit and the television show, ‘They Think It’s All Over!’, to name but a few.

He has created artwork featuring the likes of Jonathan Ross, Jeremy Clarkson, Ian Botham, David Vine, Steve Bull, Alan Shearer, Ian Hislop and Gary Lineker, not to mention virtually every famous snooker player that ever lifted a cue. You may have even noticed him at the Crucible World Championships on TV, interviewing them as he drew their caricatures!

He has also designed many book covers, album sleeves for bands such as UB40, The Maisonettes and City Boy (remember them?), and postage stamps, notably ‘Charles and Diana – The Royal Wedding’, ‘Miss World’, ‘Lake Placid Winter Olympics’ and ‘Spain 1982 World Cup Football’.

More recently, his incredibly detailed ‘Cat Conundrum’ puzzle paintings have enthralled and exasperated thousands of dedicated puzzle-solvers all over the world. Unusually, Geoff is a serious painter and a cartoonist, though lately he has spent more time with his cartoons.

Geoff’s younger brother, David, is a well known and extremely successful comedy playwright (Samuel French, the international theatrical publisher, has just announced that he is their No.1 UK comedy playwright, judged by 'bums on seats, worldwide'), so it was no real surprise when Geoff eventually turned his hand to comedy writing. Currently, he has penned 13 published comedies and one factual book about the legendary rock club, JB's (which is also very funny). Naturally, he illustrates his own book covers, as he can't afford to get anyone else to do it!
